Points that expire one by one

Expiry on inactivity suits most programs: only dormant balances expire. Some stores want every point to last a fixed time instead, for accounting or because their terms say so.

Each point on its own. Under Settings → Points program, choose Nothing: each point expires on its own for What resets the expiry countdown. Every point then expires the set number of months after it was earned, and redeeming spends the oldest points first. Points customers already have count from the day you save, so nobody loses points they had before.

Customers see what expires next. When only part of a balance is about to expire, the widget, the landing page and the Loyalty Hub show it on its own line, for example "120 points expire on 15 May". The warning e-mail goes out before the date and names just those points.

See the guide.
