Points for newsletter and SMS signups

Two new ways to earn: Subscribe to the newsletter and Subscribe to SMS updates. Growing a marketing list is one of the most valuable things a loyalty program can do, so these are built to catch the signup wherever it happens:

  • Awarded on consent, not on a form — Shopify's marketing consent is the source of truth. Whether the customer subscribes in the loyalty widget, the account hub, at checkout, through a popup, or via Klaviyo or Postscript, the moment they flip to subscribed the bonus lands. Once per customer, ever.
  • Built-in subscribe flows — the widget shows an inline signup form and the account hub opens a proper claim dialog with a consent checkbox, so members who aren't subscribed yet can earn on the spot.
  • You decide about existing subscribers — let them claim the bonus too (each one claims it themselves — there's never a silent mass award), or reserve it for new subscriptions only.
  • SMS handles the phone number — if the account has no mobile number on file, the claim flow asks for one, validates it, and shows the standard marketing-consent disclosure. Charm records the consent; your SMS platform does the sending.

Both rules can also be boosted in campaigns — a double-points weekend on list signups is now a two-minute setup.
